>> the oakland police department is holding a news conference about an officer involved shooting after someone pointed a gun at them following activity last near with up to 700 cars involved over to nights in side show activity. amy hollyfield has the latest.

amy? >> yes, the police chief is speaking right new behind me. he is joined by the mayor and several other members of the police department. he called eight very busy weekend. you can see the mayor is now taking the podium. they are talking about side show that happened over the weekend. also, the officer involved shoot ing. take a look at this picture. this is what they released to show us, the gun they say the man was holding, the man would they shot to death. they say it turned out to be an airsoft replica gun but it is hard to tell that if a split second when it is pointed at you. police have a lengthy investigation to conduct to determine how the officer involved has been with the department for seven years. we expect more information on that. we hope to here about the side show that happened over the weekend on saturday need, with an estimated 700 cars involved. shots were fired. a source inside the department temperatures me that even the side shows are nothing but the
